As we closed off our United We Stand series, we looked at Nehemiah chapter 9 and what it means to be a Community of Remembrance. As individuals and collectively, as the body of Christ, it is important to recollect both our failures and our victories. We remember our failures so we don’t relive them, and we remember our victories to recall God’s faithfulness. It is in the act of remembering that we also recall to mind the bond between the members of the family of God. We remember that we have a community that will share in our sorrows and our successes. As we remember God’s faithfulness in our community, it propels us forward with hope, believing that God who was faithful to us in the past will also be faithful to us in the future.
